Zlata Heller, M.I.Inf.Sc., M.I.T.I., D.P.S.I., N.R.P.S.I.
With 26 years of experience in information work and records management, gained at the Research and Technology Division of British Gas (now DNVGL) where I held the post of Senior Information Scientist, Business Information Officer and Manager of Publications and Archive, I have accumulated an in-depth knowledge across a wide range of subject areas. These include knowledge management, database management, time management, provision of information services, programming, organisation of information sources, indexing, abstracting etc. I set up Heller Consulting in 1997, after I had left British Gas. While I focus on providing Czech translation services and Internet consultancy services, I also provide consultancy services in the following areas:
- Information systems
- Office automation
- Records management
- Database selection and management
- Business, management and technical information
- Feasibility studies
In the course of my professional career I have made numerous and valuable personal contacts. I have thus been able to build up a circle of associates whom I can consult or bring in on individual projects as and when necessary.
With regard to my linguistic skills, I am Czech born and a translator of English, German and Russian by training. Throughout my employment with British Gas, and in addition to my other duties at the time, I was responsible for the provision of a comprehensive translation service to the staff of the Research Technology Division of British Gas. My mother language is Czech, while English has been my language of habitual use for the last 29 years. I am a Chartered Member of the Chartered Institute of Library and Information Professionals, Member of the Institute of Translation and Interpreting, holder of Diploma in Public Service Interpreting (Law Option) and I am also registered on the UK National Register of Public Service Interpreters. Thus I am fully qualified and authorised to translate and interpret in UK Courts of Law.
